Just a few months ago, Chanel designer Karl Lagerfield was criticising plus-size models, saying no one wanted to see ’round’ women on the catwalk.

It seems he might be eating his words though, if his recent photoshoot for V is anything to go by.

Plus size Burlesque dancer Miss Dirty Martini was the star of a photoshoot shot by Karl, for V’s latest plus-size issue.

Miss Dirty Martini has a similar look to Dita Von tease, except she’s several sizes larger and quite a bit more feisty. I’m sure this is one woman who had no interest in Karl’s anti-plus size attitude. She’s also proof that being bigger doesn’t mean you can’t be sexy, a relection to the curvier times of Marilyn Monroe.

The photoshoot involved the burlesque dancer sporting her own underwear range, as well as jewellery and accessories from the Chanel range. One of the images even has the dancer posing next to a Coco Chanel lookalike.

It’s great to see Karl behind the camera of such an interesting shoot, but the cynical part of me fears this may just be a publicity stunt to improve his popularity.
